Everything you need to know before you begin
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. Here are honest answers to the questions I hear most — because you deserve to feel informed and at ease before our first conversation.
How do I get started?
Click "Book Now" anywhere on the site. You'll fill out a short intake form and receive a link to schedule your free 15-minute consultation call. During that call, we'll talk about what brings you to therapy and decide together whether we're a good fit. If so, we'll book your first full session.
What is the free consultation call?
It's a free, no-pressure 15-minute video or phone call where we get to know each other a little. I'll ask what brings you to therapy and what you're hoping to work on, and you can ask me anything about my approach or what to expect. There's zero obligation to book after — it's genuinely just a chance to see if we click.
Are you currently accepting new clients?
Yes — I am currently accepting new clients. Schedule your free consultation to get started. Availability can change, so if you've been thinking about reaching out, now is a good time.
What if I've had a bad therapy experience before?
I hear this often — and I take it seriously. The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in whether therapy works. The free consultation is a low-pressure opportunity to get a genuine feel for my style. I'd love to hear what didn't work before and talk through how I do things differently.
How much does therapy cost?
The free 15-minute consultation is — free. The initial 60-minute intake session is $200. Regular 53-minute sessions are $175. See the full Fees & Insurance page for details.
What insurance do you accept?
I am in-network with Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Oscar, and Oxford in both Florida and New Jersey. Your out-of-pocket cost depends on your individual plan, deductible, and copay. I recommend calling your insurer to confirm your telehealth benefits before our first session.
What if my insurance isn't on your list?
I provide superbills — detailed receipts that you can submit to your insurer for out-of-network reimbursement. Many plans reimburse 50–80% of out-of-network therapy costs. Contact me and we'll figure out what options work for you.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
I do not currently offer a sliding scale. However, accepting multiple insurance plans and providing superbills are ways I try to make therapy as accessible as possible. If cost is a barrier, please reach out and we can talk through your options honestly.
Can I use my FSA or HSA to pay for therapy?
Yes. Therapy is a qualified medical expense, so FSA (Flexible Spending Account) and HSA (Health Savings Account) funds can typically be used for session fees. Check with your plan administrator to confirm.
Is online therapy as effective as in-person?
Yes — research consistently shows that telehealth therapy is equally effective as in-person sessions for anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and most other concerns. Many clients find it easier to open up and do the work from the comfort and privacy of their own space.
What platform do you use for sessions?
All sessions are conducted via a HIPAA-compliant, encrypted video platform. You'll receive a secure link before each session. No downloads or accounts are needed — just click the link, allow camera and microphone access, and you're in.
Which states can I be in for a session?
You must be physically located in Florida, New Jersey, or Vermont at the time of your session — those are the three states where I hold an independent LCSW license. You don't need to be a permanent resident; you just need to be in one of those states when we meet.
What do I need for a telehealth session?
A private, quiet space where you won't be overheard. A device with a camera and microphone (phone, tablet, or laptop). A reliable internet connection. That's it. I recommend having a glass of water nearby and giving yourself a few minutes to settle before we start.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is a 60-minute deep dive into your story. We'll cover your history, current challenges, relationships, and what you're hoping to change or heal. You don't need to prepare anything — just show up as you are. It's not an interrogation; it's a conversation. My job is to listen deeply and start to understand you as a whole person.
How long will I be in therapy?
It depends on your goals and the complexity of what you're working through. Therapy is not meant to go on forever. After 2–3 sessions, I'll put together a personalized treatment plan with clear goals so you always know where we're headed. Many clients work through their primary issues within a few months; others choose to continue longer for deeper personal growth.
How often will we meet?
Most clients start with weekly sessions, especially at the beginning when we're building momentum and rapport. As you progress, we may shift to biweekly. The frequency is always tailored to your treatment plan and what actually works for your life.
Is what I share in therapy confidential?
Yes — confidentiality is the foundation of therapy. Everything you share stays between us. There are limited legal exceptions (imminent risk of harm, mandatory child abuse reporting, valid court orders), which I'll explain fully in our first session. I take your privacy extremely seriously.
What if I cry or get emotional?
That's completely welcome — therapy is one of the few spaces where you don't have to hold it together. Tears, anger, confusion, silence — all of it belongs here. You will never be judged for how you feel or how you express it.
Do you only work with women?
My practice is focused on millennial women, which is where my deepest training, experience, and passion lies. If you identify as a woman or are a person who relates to the experiences I work with — anxiety, relationship issues, maternal mental health — I'd love to hear from you.
Do you do couples therapy?
I currently specialize in individual therapy for women. That said, the work we do together — understanding your patterns, needs, and attachment style — has a profound positive impact on all your relationships, including romantic ones.
Are you trained in perinatal mental health?
Yes — I hold a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C), which reflects specialized training and expertise in supporting women through fertility struggles, pregnancy, and the postpartum period. This is an area I'm deeply passionate about.
What therapeutic approach do you use?
My primary approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Psychodynamic Theory. I also practice from an anti-oppressive, social justice orientation. I tailor my approach to each client — there's no one-size-fits-all in my practice. Sessions are available in English and Spanish.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged the full session fee. I understand that life happens — please just communicate with me and we'll work something out.
What are your availability hours?
I see clients Monday through Friday. Specific availability varies — the best way to see current openings is to visit the booking portal. All times are Eastern Time (ET).
Do you prescribe medication?
No. As an LCSW, I am not authorized to prescribe medication. If medication might be helpful for you, I can provide referrals to trusted psychiatrists or collaborate with your existing prescriber. Therapy and medication often work very well together.
How do I contact you between sessions?
For non-urgent matters, you can reach me through the secure client portal or by email. I typically respond within one business day. Please note that I am not available for crisis support between sessions — if you are experiencing a mental health emergency, call 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room.
Your question isn't here? Ask me directly.
I'm happy to answer any question before you commit to a thing. No question is too small or too silly.
